Dr. Marja-Liisa Permikangas (FI)

Dr. Marja-Liisa Niinikoski is the Managing Director of Finnish Textile & Fashion (Suomen Tekstiili & Muoti), the leading organization representing Finland’s textile and fashion industry. With a doctoral degree in economics and business administration, she brings a strong academic foundation to her leadership role. Her career includes serving as CEO in various companies and contributing to innovation studies as a researcher, with peer-reviewed publications in leading journals.

Dr. Niinikoski has held board and chair positions in several companies and associations, including a publicly listed firm. She has a particular interest in international business and the growth of sustainable consumer markets. In her previous role, she led a company that attracted foreign direct investments, growth funding, and international partnerships to Finland.

At Finnish Textile & Fashion, she focuses on digitizing the industry and promoting sustainable practices. She has been instrumental in developing a roadmap aiming to make Finland’s textile sector the most responsible and functional globally by 2035, with projected investments of over €1 billion and the creation of approximately 17,000 new jobs.
