Born in Stockholm in 1989, SHIDA SHAHABI grew up surrounded by ‘70s Persian pop and classical music—but it was the joy her parents found in singing and listening that truly shaped her musical path. She began composing at eleven and later studied at Stockholm’s Royal Institute of Art, merging her love for music and visual art into a multidisciplinary practice.

Since her acclaimed debut Homes (2018)—praised by BBC Radio and Mojo as “half-submerged music that rewards the attentive ear”—SHAHABI has scored films, dance pieces, and art installations. Her work blends classical instrumentation with ambient and electronic textures, creating emotionally resonant compositions that invite both cerebral and sentimental reflection.

Her latest album Living Circle (2023) continues this immersive approach, while recent scores include Falcon Lake (Cannes 2022), Lovely, Dark and Deep (2023), and the dance piece Sylph by Halla Olafsdóttir.
