Iiro Komulainen: Improv Piano

Iiro Komulainen, a young and revolutionary piano virtuoso from Finland, is performing an improvised piano set at ODDfest.

Known for his phenomenal ability to compose on the spot, Iiro’s wide-ranging repertoire spans classical masterpieces, film scores, popular tunes, and original works—often created live in the moment.

Mr. Komulainen has an astounding ability to improvise on any given idea. Often during his concerts, he asks the audience for suggestions—then immediately begins crafting flowing, coherent, and beautiful music on the spot.

In his compositional style, he draws inspiration from classical maestros, contemporary tunes, film music, and jazz. A graduate of the Pop & Jazz Conservatory of Helsinki, Iiro has also studied classical music and composition with several notable private teachers and instructors.

He tours internationally and collaborates with musicians, artists, companies, and institutions—combining creative musical talent with artistically high-quality music in an entertaining and approachable format.
