Performance

Laura Meriluoto is a Helsinki-based artist and designer with a Master’s degree in arts from Aalto University School of Arts, Design, and Architecture. Her practice is grounded in curiosity toward the emotional bonds people form with objects and how these connections influence our willingness to care for, keep, and value them over time.

Rather than approaching sustainability solely through materials or production, Laura explores it as an emotional and behavioral question – asking how commitment, attachment, and personal meaning could become tools for more conscious consumption.

She seeks to open dialogue about our relationship with objects and how small shifts in perspective might promote more lasting, intentional ways of living.

Working between art and design, she creates sculptural objects as vessels for meaning – inviting reflection on emotional attachment, care, and how we relate to what we own. Through deliberate materiality, evocative shapes, and production methods that embrace individuality, she crafts objects that reinforce emotional bonds.

Her works often take on sympathetic, imperfect forms that highlight each material’s unique character. With sensitivity to process and scale, she uses methods that reveal the story of their making – creating objects that invite presence, care, and conversation.
