Speculative City Futures Workshop by LAB & Hi Shine
🎟️ ODDfest ticket required
What could Helsinki look like in 2040 — and what if the city worked completely differently?
Join a unique two-part workshop exploring bold urban futures through speculative design and AI. Developed by LAB Institute of Design and Hi Shine as part of ODDfest 2025, the workshop brings together 20 multidisciplinary participants (from design, tech, research, culture, etc.) to co-create future scenarios and concept artifacts that reimagine city life.
Rooted in the City of Helsinki’s foresight goals, the workshop tackles themes like the future of living, mobility beyond transport, human-tech interaction, and imagination as infrastructure.
Schedule:
🔹 May 27 (Online Intro) – Speculative design crash course
🔹 June 6 (Live @ ODDfest) – Hands-on creative workshop at Kulttuurikasarmi
🔹 June 7 – Concepts exhibited as part of the ODDfest program
The results will feed into future urban strategy, education, and public imagination. Curated and facilitated by Matilda Kivelä & Antero Kivikoski.
